Chef Peter X. Kelly Takes Over The Waveny Tavern in New Canaan Restaurant New Canaan Opening Celebrity Chef Jeff "jfood" Schlesinger December 23, 2025 "It’s about great food, a vibrant atmosphere, and a level of hospitality that makes you want to return before you’ve even left.” - Chef Peter KellyThe Waveny Tavern by PXK is the newest restaurant to take over the space in the Pine Street mini-mall in New Canaan. The location previously housed one of my longtime favorites, South End, and when it first reopened as The Waveny Tavern, my early visits left me feeling it hadn’t quite hit its stride. That changed when Chef Peter X. Kelly arrived earlier this year. Widely regarded as one of Westchester County’s top restaurateurs, Kelly opened his first restaurant, Xaviers, when he was just 23 years old. Since his young entrance into the culinary world, he has opened additional restaurants, including a second Xavier's, Freelance Café, Restaurant X, Bully Boy Bar and X20. His work has earned him numerous accolades, including Westchester Magazine’s Best Chef in 2003 and the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Northeast in 2010. His move into Fairfield County is a welcome addition to the local dining scene. Read More
70+ CT Restaurants To Celebrate New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day (2025 Edition) Features New Years Holiday Homepage Hannah Goodman December 19, 2025 Well folks, we are another year older and dare I say, wiser? Every year has its ups, its downs, its dead plants (sorry I forgot to water you for six months), and its lasting impressions, however big or small. I like to say that every year is the best year that ever was because with each passing one, we live, learn, and grow – hopefully for the better! The holidays are a time in which we reflect on the past and present, while New Year’s Eve helps us look toward the future, what may lie ahead for us in the next 12 months, even if it’s a fresh start, which we all need sometimes. While nothing in life stays the same and sometimes there are more downs than ups, one thing is always true (for me at least): food is the greatest thing in the world and a day without being able to recognize this self-proclaimed fact is truly a day wasted. Sharing that food with friends, family, and other loved ones makes it all the more special – the creation of shared memories through eating, as we are no one without each other. Get out your party hats, glitter, champagne flutes, and any other supplies needed to celebrate New Year’s Eve. This list contains restaurants, bars, caterers, and dance clubs all over the state of Connecticut that are looking forward to hosting you, your friends, and family for the holiday. Some places require reservations or ticket purchasing ahead of time while others are walk-in friendly. Goodbye 2025 and cheers to 2026 – let’s make it a good one! Read More

At the appropriately named tacobarn, Boyajian isn’t calling it traditional Mexican and he’s not even remotely pretending it’s that. And this particular nontraditional taco space is something he’s quite familiar with from his past as bartaco’s director of operations and part of that microchain’s expansion. Read More
GG’s Wood Fired Pizza in Milford: Blistered Crusts and Bold Sausage Restaurant Milford Pizza Jeff "jfood" Schlesinger December 16, 2025 I continue to work my way through the CT Pizza Trail’s top 100, checking off the spots I’ve missed, and finally visited GG’s Wood Fired Pizza in Milford. I must have driven past this bright red roadside building on the Boston Post Road a hundred times. It’s impossible to miss with its bold sign emblazoned with two flaming “G”s and an apostrophe shaped like a pizza slice. Yet somehow, it had never occurred to me to stop. I had no idea they were serving ultra-charred, wood-fired pizza out of a blazing hot oven. On a quiet midweek afternoon, we headed to GG’s, an easy venture since it sits right at the bottom of the Milford Connector. There is parking wrapped around the building and an extra lot tucked behind the small strip mall to the left, likely more useful once the neighboring shops close for the day. Read More
