The Spread in SoNo Moves IronWorks Complex, Re-Opening This Week!
The Spread you know and love from Main Street in South Norwalk has some new digs and a whole new summer look. Spread owners Andrey Cortes, Chris Hickey, Chris Rasile, Shawn Longyear and Chef Carlos Baez have taken their much heralded menu and rustic industrial vibe, and moved down the street, next door to their sister spot, El Segundo. The new location resides in the space that once housed Harlan Public, within the IronWorks complex, and it comes with one of the most beautiful outdoor dining spaces in Fairfield County. Loyal diners and regulars….don’t worry. The menu will feature all of the usual favorites such as their Brick Chicken and Ricotta Gnocchi but Chef Baez has a few surprises up his chef’s coat.
The new Spread will open for dinner on Thursday June 11th with outdoor seating. The team made good use of the COVID closure period to make some renovations to this already well appointed interior. The fully retractable glass wall separating the enormous bar from the exterior is still in effect, but the kitchen has been opened up to allow diners a panoramic view of Chef Baez and his cooks. This update also paved the way for a Chef’s Table, always my favorite seat in the house, allowing six lucky diners a spot at the kitchen counter.
“We always wanted to give Carlos the opportunity to have a gorgeous dining space that matched his talent,” said owner Chris Hickey. This is it.
While Chef Baez’ mastery of global cuisines can be found everywhere on The Spread’s menu, his love for international flavors and ingredients will be highlighted through the addition of The Spread’s new weekly themed menus offered alongside the traditional bill of fare. Every Thursday, guests can enjoy Carlos’ HAVANA NIGHTS with a full multi-course Cuban menu complete with Empanadas, Ropa Vieja and the classic Cubano + for $39. Wednesday is BAO NIGHT with all you can eat Pork belly, Fried Chicken, Bulgogi, and Spam Bao for $20. Mhmm, you heard me.
While we eagerly wait for indoor dining to resume in CT, The Spread will offer curbside pickup in addition to outdoor dining (call for a reservation). They are also offering “Room Service” with FREE delivery to the multiple South Norwalk apartment complexes above the restaurant. Room Service will consist of a special prix fixe menu…and a great deal for The Spread’s neighbors.
The new spot features easy validated parking under the IronWorks apartment complex and the luxury of a fully closed off courtyard until COVID restrictions are lifted.
Congrats on the new digs boys. See ya in SoNo.
Stay tuned for a CTbites / The Spread Naming Contest for their new BAO MENU coming soon!
