Nibble: CT Food Events for Week of February 6-11

"First Fridays" kicks off this Friday, feb 3rd at the Aldrich Museum in Ridgefield, featuring a "Contemporary Cocktail Party" and nibbles via Festivities Events.

86’D: A Culinary Collision is a surprise on many levels!  Two surprise chefs will have a showdown at a surprise host restaurant while spectators feast on tasty appetizers and cocktails.  The location will be announced just prior to the competition, which takes place on February 6 at 10pm.  

On Monday February 6, Wood-n-Tap in Newington presents a Victory Brewing Company Beer Dinner.  Bill Covaleski, founder of Victory Brewing Company, will guide guests through a four course meal paired with five brews.  Tickets are approximately $60 per person, with discounts for parties of 6 or more. 

Beer and chocolate?  Don’t mind if we do!  Still Hill Brewery in Rocky Hill will host a beer and chocolate pairing on Tuesday February 7 from 7-9pm.  The event features Fascia's Chocolates of Waterbury.  Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased online.  

Narragansett is releasing their H.P. Lovecraft Black Lager.  Celebrate the debut at Hop Haus Craft Beer & Restaurant in Plantsville on Thursday February 9 from 6-9pm.  

New Haven’s Shell & Bones Oyster Bar and Grill is teaming up with Black Hog Brewing Company for a beer dinner on Wednesday February 8.  The meal includes four courses matched with complementary brews.  Its costs $50 per person, plus tax and tip.  

Every Wednesday, The Fez invites you to do some karaoke with DJ. Tunni and James Daniel Entertainment.  It begins a 9pm.

The Lace Factory in Deep River, CT now offers cooking classes.  Join them on Thursday February 9 for a technique class on basic doughs.  Learn to make and shape three yeast-risen items: Pissaladière, a French-style pizza; Grissini, thin Italian breadsticks; and Baba au Rhum, a yeast-based rum-soaked cake.  It runs from 6-8:30pm and costs $50 per person.  

CT Beer Drinkers Presents Breaking Boundaries with Craft 260 on February 9.  Although local CT beers are fun, the event aims to showcase beers from New York state.  Stop by from 7-10pm for giveaways, food, and of course… beer!  

On Friday February 10, Entree Nous of Fairfield County is featuring the food of Walrus + Carpenter.  Join them at the Fairfield University Bookstore from 5-7pm for drinks and bites. 

Geronimo Tequila Bar & Southwest Grill in Fairfield is adding a Saturday brunch!  Now guests can enjoy brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30am-3:00pm.  Geronimo has added new brunch offerings and the regular menu is still available during that time.

Fresh Salt, located at Saybrook Point Inn Marina & Spa, hosts a Robert Mondavi Wine Dinner on Saturday February 11.  The evening commemorates the winery’s 50th anniversary.  It includes a cheese table, passed hors d’oeuvres, and a five course meal.  The event costs $109 per person, plus tax and tip, and reservations are required.  Please call 860-339-1327.

Solid Ground Farmer Trainings is a UCONN extension aimed at “strengthening our farms across Connecticut.”  Join them on Saturday February 11 for a seminar entitled Setting up Financial Records for Farm Business.  It runs from 9am-12pm at the Killingly Agricultural Ed Center, located at 226 Putnam Pike in Killingly, CT.

Fondue Sundays return to The Griswold Inn.  Receive a savory crock of Harvest Riesling with Grafton Farm's Cheddar accompanied by toasted bread, cornichons and fruit for dipping.  Wine flights are also available to pair with the fondue.
