Support Celiac Disease Awareness Month by Eating @ These Great Local Restaurants & Markets

CTbites Team

May is Celiac Disease Awareness Month.  To support Celiac Disease Awareness Month, several local restaurants we frequent and who take measures to serve us safe gluten free food are partnering with R.O.C.K. (Raising Our Celiac Kids) by offering 10% off Gluten Free orders to those with celiac for the month of May.  Restaurants include:  Meli Melo (Greenwich), Quattro Pazzi (Fairfield), Catch a Healthy Habit (Fairfield), The Stand Juice Company (Fairfield and Norwalk), Terrain (Westport), Villharina's Pasta (Westport), Stiles Market (Westport).

If restaurants or markets would like to join the cause please contact us.

The objective of the month is to raise awareness of Celiac Disease and debunk any myths of gluten free living for those who want more information.  Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disease which affects about 1% of the population and for which the only current treatment is a 100% gluten free diet.

What is R.O.C.K. Fairfield County CT?

3 Westport moms recently launched R.O.C.K. Fairfield County CT, the Fairfield County chapter of the national organization Raising Our Celiac Kids.  We are a free group for parents of kids with gluten free needs for any reason.  (As the name implies, most our parents have kids with celiac but we are there for those with other gluten free needs such as Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity which affects approximately another 6% of the population)  Our goal is to raise awareness of celiac disease in the local community and to provide a forum for parents to exchange ideas and information about living gluten free in Fairfield County.
