Features THC Seltzer THC Cannabis Beverage Fizz Social Soda: CT Based THC- Infused Soda Valentina Baldini July 21, 2026 The familiar taste of a soda now comes with a new twist in Connecticut. Instead of alcohol or caffeine, Fizz Social Soda offers low-dose THC-infused beverages designed to introduce consumers to cannabis in a more approachable way. What began as years of experience in the medical cannabis industry has grown into Connecticut's first locally produced THC soda brand, offering infused drinks in nostalgic flavors while helping reshape how people think about cannabis.Founder Julien Debelle Duplan was inspired to create Fizz Social Soda after seeing the positive impact cannabis had on people’s lives. “I've been in the medical cannabis space since 2020, and I've seen how it has really helped individuals with tons of different backgrounds and conditions,” Debelle Duplan said. “I'm a big believer in cannabis, and I think these low-dose beverages are a great introduction for people that don't necessarily want to try smoking or consuming an edible.”Launched in November 2025, Fizz Social Soda is Connecticut's first locally produced THC soda. Each can contains 3 milligrams of THC, a lower dose than the standard 5-milligram serving found in many cannabis edibles. Currently, flavors include Lemon Lime, Orange, Black Cherry and Diet Cola. The original flavors are made with cane sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup, while the Diet Cola contains zero calories and zero sugar. Some of Fizz Social Soda's best sellers are the Orange and Diet Cola. “When people try it, the Orange reminds them of one of those classic sodas they had when they were much younger, giving it a nostalgic taste,” Debelle Duplan said. “Diet Cola has been a favorite because people love their diet sodas. We thought that we did a really good job of replicating the original flavor of cola, and people have really gravitated towards it.”The beverages are an alternative to alcohol, allowing consumers to enjoy a drink without the unwanted effect of a nasty headache the next day.“That Tuesday night beer that you wanted to have after work can ultimately turn into two or three beers, and maybe a little bit of a hangover in the morning,” Debelle Duplan said. “With these beverages, you won't feel the effects of drinking alcohol while still getting a buzz.” While THC beverages continue to grow in popularity, Debelle Duplan believes it's important to spread awareness about these sodas. “Customers don't even realize that these beverages have been in their liquor stores and dispensaries for two or three years now. Once they see them, they understand them,” he said.Although the company is part of an emerging industry, Debelle Duplan hopes Fizz Social Soda will also be recognized for its Connecticut roots. The beverages are manufactured by Black Hog Brewing, one of the first 15 breweries to open in the state. “We want to continue to emphasize that we are a local business,” he said. “We're thankful that the state of Connecticut has made a manufacturing license for breweries to make these products. It shows that the state is innovating with new trends and consumer demands. We want to be recognized as a leader in the THC beverage space in Connecticut.”Q&A with Fizz Social Soda Founder Julien Debelle DuplanWhat inspired you to start a THC soda company?Honestly, I've been in the medical cannabis space since 2020, and I've seen how medical cannabis has really helped a ton of individuals with tons of different backgrounds and conditions. I knew that the beverage market was also going to be just as impactful for a lot of people. I'm a big believer in cannabis, and I think these low-dose beverages are a great introduction to cannabis for people that don't necessarily want to try smoking or consuming an edible. What kind of THC beverages do you sell? What are your products?Fizz Social Soda is a THC soda brand. It's a low-dose, 3 milligram THC per container currently. We also have four different flavors at the moment. We launched with our Lemon Lime, our Orange, and our Black Cherry soda, which are all made with cane sugar, so it's not high-fructose corn syrup.Back in February, we launched our first diet soda, the Diet Cola. That's zero calories, zero sugar, and has been doing really well for us.What are your best sellers and what makes them stand out?Our best sellers are the Orange and the Diet Cola. I think the Orange, when people try it, reminds them of those classic orange soda flavors that they had when they were much younger or years ago, and it has that nostalgic flavor to it.Diet Cola has been a favorite because the diet cola market is huge. People love their diet sodas. People go to McDonald's for it because they think it's better there. We thought that we did a really good job of replicating a diet cola, and people have really gravitated towards it.Do you find that customers have misconceptions about THC beverages?I don't think they have misconceptions. I think there's just a lack of awareness. I think customers don't even realize that these beverages have been in their liquor stores and dispensaries for two or three years now.Once they see them, they understand them. I just think there's a big gap in awareness where people truly don't understand that these products exist in such a mainstream format that can be bought. How do you educate new consumers about dosage and responsible consumption?Being in the cannabis industry, it's really educating them and letting them know that 3 milligrams is a very low dose entry into the cannabis space. For someone that doesn't use cannabis, there should be no worry for them as to consuming it for the first time. A standard edible, gummy, or chocolate that you would buy in a licensed dispensary is 5 milligrams per serving. Us being at 3 milligrams is even less.I let them know that it's going to take 10 to 20 minutes for them to feel the effects, but it's also going to be very minor, and there's really nothing they should worry about at a 3 milligram dosage.Do you believe these beverages are a replacement to alcohol?I think they can. That Tuesday night beer that you wanted to have after work ultimately turns into two or three beers and maybe a little bit of a hangover in the morning. You can now replace that with these beverages and not feel groggy in the morning or feel the effects of drinking alcohol.I do see it as potentially being a replacement for alcohol. What role do you hope your company plays in the Connecticut community? We want to continue to emphasize that we are a local business. Black Hog Brewing, who manufactures our products, was one of the first 15 breweries to open in the state. We're thankful that the state of Connecticut has made a manufacturing license for breweries to make these products. It shows that the state is innovating and that the breweries are also innovating to new trends and consumer demands. We want to be recognized as a leader in the THC beverage space in Connecticut.
