If you live in Fairfield County, you most likely already have a favorite Tasty Yolk menu item. Their breakfast sandwiches are the stuff of legends, and if you don’t know about The Tasty Yolk, well now ya know. The Tasty Yolk started as a single food truck in 2016, quickly added two more trucks to the lineup, and then opened their first storefront location in Bridgeport in 2019. And now…drumroll please…they are opening a NEW location in STRATFORD at 3530 Main Street, on Wednesday, October 20th.

Why Stratford? Chef Eric Felitto’s (Food Network Chopped Champion) and his wife Allison McHale (marketing and biz guru) are longtime Stratford residents, and are excited to be serving their community. They have been working on the new spot since February 2021 and finally, it’s go time!

For those not yet familiar with The Tasty Yolk experience, Chef Felitto and partner, Michael Bertanza, have created the gold standard for to-go breakfast and lunch comfort food, primarily sandwiches and wraps (and then there is that loaded potato and the buttermilk pancakes with citrus mascarpone and crumbled bacon…drool). These are not just ANY Bacon, Egg & Cheese sammies.

“This is a very exciting time for The Tasty Yolk and it’s patrons. I could not be more excited to have our first storefront expansion come to the amazing people in the town of Stratford, where many members of my family members also reside,” says co-owner, Bertanza.

Eric has serious culinary chops and every ingredient from the brisket in THE BANKER (brisket, 2 eggs, spicy aioli, swiss), to the roasted pork shoulder in THE CUBANO are all made in house daily, and are just freakin delicious. Don’t even get me started on the MOTHER CLUCKER, my family’s mandatory Sunday starter with buttermilk fried chicken breast, pickled slaw, korean bbq sauce, or THE TASTY, a classic with craft Chorizo, eggs, and cheddar. The icing on the pancakes is the fact that their breakfast sandwiches all fall in the $5-$9 range and there is nothing on their breakfast or lunch menu over $13. This is very well executed food, at a very reasonable price point…a recipe for success.

What’s new at the Stratford location? Both spots have just gotten a menu update with some nice additions, especially for those looking for Veggie forward options. I inhaled the new JUST GO FLORET mid photo shoot (note the smudge on several pics). With 2 eggs, turmeric-cumin roasted cauliflower, sautéed kale & pepper jack in a spinach wrap, this is a veggie-lovers dream. We also really liked the new TINGA (grilled marinated chicken, shredded cheddar jack, mango aioli & escabeche slaw in a nacho wrap). Other new items include THE CUBANO (you may recall this one from their specials menu), THE NASHVILLE HOT (hot fried chicken, house pickles, mayo, hot honey) and the HAHA FISH BURRITO (panko fried mahi mahi, tomato, lettuce, avocado, pickled slaw & aioli on a toasted wrap).

Also new to this Tasty Yolk is the fact that this location offers Stratford’s Main Street the opportunity to peer into The Tasty Yolk kitchen, so grabbing a sandwich here is a but like breakfast/lunch theater. I’ll say one thing…this will be cleanest kitchen in all of CT.

Stratford hours will be Monday through Saturday 7AM to 2PM,and Sundays 8AM to 2PM. Felitto says that dinner will probably launch mid November. They will continue to have weekly specials just like in Black Rock, and are available for catering parties of any size either via their food trucks or storefronts. They can ever cater your Thanksgiving. There is a god.
