With successful locations in Old Saybrook, Mystic and Noank, Mystic Market traveled down the coast to Fairfield County and recently opened its doors in Westport on Charles Street, not too far from the train station. The spacious interior features reclaimed lumber, steel and white subway tile which give it an airy, modern urban vibe. The eatery specializes in gourmet, ready to go pre-prepared meals all which are made in-house. For those preferring not to eat on the road, a generously sized café space offers a welcoming environment to for friends to meet up for a cup of coffee and a delicious, warm, freshly baked sweet treat.

The Market prides itself on combining locally sourced ingredients whenever possible to make everything from simple comfort foods to their more exotic dishes. I was happy to see some familiar local products from Arethusa and Beaver Brook Farms occupy shelf space in the refrigerated area.

With plenty of parking and a hop, skip and jump away from the train, Mystic Market can help take help ease some of the pressure of getting dinner on the table in a timely manner.High quality pastas, seafood, meat and European cheeses await your dining room table.

Early risers can grab coffee and a bite to eat, sweet from the bakery or savory, fresh off the griddle. Road trippers and beach goers will also love the convenience of the generous and creative selection of salads and sandwiches. Along with all the other selections, daily specials are announced a week in advance and can be seen on their website, alongside all their other offerings.

Not sure you’re going to like something? In addition to the samples available throughout the market, guests are not just welcome but encouraged to try before they buy. If there’s something you would like to sample but don’t see it out, just ask for it, including the daily soups and the house made salads.

We’ve tried a few of their sandwiches and salads and we can’t wait to go back and try some more.
