The 43rd Annual Milford Oyster Festival takes place on Saturday August 19.  There will be 35,000 oysters, crafts, food, amusement rides, classic cars, and more.  The festival runs from 10am-6pm. 

On Saturday August 19, visit Sunset Meadow Vineyards for a Farm to Table Lobster Dinner under the stars.  The dinner includes Lobster, Clams, Mussels, Potatoes, Corn and Watermelon. There will be live music and wine specials all evening.  Reservations are required as seating is limited. Call 860-201-4654 for info and reservations.  It is $79.95 per person. 

During the month of August, visit The Fez for a prix fixe menu that includes 3 courses for just $25.  Choose a mezze, entrée, and dessert… and if your party has four or more enjoy a free bottle of wine!

As August gets underway, it’s time to start thinking about kids going back to school!  Food conscious parents can meet at the Woodruff Family YMCA in Milford on August 15 to share recipes and tips for healthy, tasty, and varied school lunches.  The meeting starts at 6pm.

On Tuesday August 15, Prime Pub in Bethel will host a Firestone Walker Tap Takeover.  From 6-9pm, try 5 of their brews on tap, enter a raffle for3 tin tackers from Firestone Walker, win a $50 gift card to Prime Pub, and get swag from a Firestone Walker rep. 

The Cafe at Middlebury Consignment will have a Trip to Morocco Cooking Class on Wednesday August 16 from 6-9pm.  Moroccan-Spiced Chicken Baked Under a Brick, Mint Yogurt Dressing, Vegetable Tagine, Couscous with Dates & Almonds, Scallion Pita Bread, and Pistachio -Dried Cherry Baklava are all on the menu!

Edward Smith Library in Northford, CT will host a Food Truck Night on Wednesday August 16 from 5-8pm.  The Fire Pizza Truck and The Sugar Bakery Cupcake Truck will participate… along with one more truck TBA!  Stay for live music by Bending Gravity at 6:30pm.

Crave, located in Ansonia, invites you to a Copper Cane Wine Dinner feature the wines of Joe Wagner on August 16.  Guest speaker Timothy Locke, Regional Manager of Copper Cane Wines & Provisions, will be there to guide you through the meal.  It costs $65, plus tax & gratuity.  Space is limited.  To RSVP call 203.735.3300.

J. Gilbert's Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood Glastonbury presents a Chef’s Tasting Menu on Tuesday August 15 from 5-9pm.  It will feature classic steakhouse menu items.  Call 860.659.0409 to reserve.

The next installation of Bethel’s Food Truck Fridays will take place on Friday August 18.  Find the mobile eats at the Bethel Municipal Center from 5-8pm.

On Sunday August 20, participate in an appetizer and dessert crawl in New Haven.  Enjoy appetizer and dessert samples from 12 great restaurants at The Shops at Yale from 1-4pm for just $20. Participants include Claire’s Corner Copia, Harvest Wine Bar & Restaurant, B Natural Café, Pacifico, Oaxaca Kitchen, and more.  The ticket includes free parking at the 150 York Street Garage.   All profits go directly to the Robin I. Kroogman New Haven Animal Shelter.

For those looking for some fun just outside of Connecticut, check out the Putnam County Wine & Food Fest in Patterson, NY on August 12 and 13.  Sample wine, cider, beer, and spirits.  Plus, take in live music, try arts and crafts, watch cooking and mixologist demonstrations, and more. 

This weekend marks the Canton Volunteer Fire Company's 37th annual lobsterfest celebration!  Join them Friday, August 18th from 6:00-9:30 PM, Saturday August 19th from 12:00-9:30PM, or Sunday August 20th from 12:00-4:00PM.  $20.00 Includes one full lobster, corn, New England Clam Chowder, and a Beverage!  There will be kid-friendly activities and eats as well.
