Nibble: CT Food Events For Week Of November 5-12th

Tavern on Main's "RAUS in the HAUS" with Donny Raus will take place Friday November 10 from 6:30 pm until closing.  Donny will make coffee cocktails using his signature Cold Roman blend while the kitchen will whip  up several dishes using RAUS coffee. 

Brasitas in Norwalk will have a Tequila Tasting Dinner on Wednesday, November 8 at 7pm.  Four courses will be paired with tequila-based cocktails.  The event costs $65, plus tax and tip. 

On Thursday November 9, Kawa Ni will host a Japanese Whisky Dinner.  The evening will include 6 courses paired with 6 complementary whiskies.  It begins at 6:30pm and costs $125 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

The Westport Farmers’ Market and Fleishers Craft Butchery have joined to sponsor the film, Unbroken Ground: Revolutions Start from the Bottom, at the Fairfield Theater Company on Monday November 6.  Unbroken Ground was created by Patagonia Provisions and explores the critical role food plays in climate change.  After the show, there will be a discussion and refreshments provided by Patagonia Provisions, Fleishers Craft Butchery, and Fairfield Cheese Company, with beer samples provided by Black Hog Brewing.  Tickets are $5 and proceeds benefit the Farmers Market.

Liv’s Oyster Bar offers a “Buck A Shuck” Happy Hour from 4-5:30pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays).  The featured “Happy Hour Oyster” changes on a daily basis while draft and wine specials are also offered.

b Restaurants debuted a Might Minis Menu that will last through November 22 at all locations.  The new collection of small plates includes choices like The Ringleader (Cajun NY strip loin, caramelized onion, blue cheese, crispy fried mushroom chips, and horseradish cream), The Great Gobbler (roasted turkey breast, mashed potatoes, and chipotle cranberry aioli on sage stuffing buns with a side of gravy), The Steamed Strongmen (Char Siu roast pork, Korean BBQ sauce, seasame cucumber pickle, grilled scallion, and cilantro), and more.

Geronimo Tequila Bar & Grill’s New Haven location will celebrate its 10th Anniversary on Wednesday November 8 starting at 5pm.  The party will include live entertainment, games, an outdoor pig roast, a visit by Cuco the donkey, and a tequila toast with the Mayor of New Haven.

Terrain Garden Café invites you to Wine and Cheese 101 on Wednesday November 8 from 5-6:30pm.  Executive Chef Jessica Bengtson will show guests the perfect wine pairings for varieties of Plymouth Artisan Cheese.  They’ll also show you cheese knives and serving boards to complete your next party.  It costs $40 per person and an RSVP is required. 

The New Canaan Library will hold their annual Holiday Wine Tasting on Thursday November 9 from 7-9pm.  Taste and order wines from around the world in time for Thanksgiving, enjoy bites from local chefs, enter a raffle, and more.  Tickets are $50 per person. 

Chop Shop Cooking classes continue on November 9 with “Asian Flavors.”  The menu consists of Crab Rangoons with Sweet & Sour Sauce, Thai Coconut Curry Turkey Meatballs, Korean Beef Bulgogi with Asian Slaw & Lettuce Wraps, and Shrimp Noodle Salad with Cucumber, Mango & Soy Sesame Dressing.

On Saturday November 11, visit the West Hartford Public Library (Noah Webster Branch) for a book discussion about Eating India – An Odyssey Into The Food And Culture Of The Land Of Spices.  The book’s author, Chitrita Banerji, will be there to answer your questions, as well as food blogger Yamini Lal.  Entry to the book discussion is free.  This book discussion is part of an event to benefit SNEHA, a Connecticut-based network for women of South Asian origin and their families.

Sunday Brunch has returned to Outriggers in Stratford!  Join them from 11:00am to 3:30pm. 

The New Covenant Center presents the 7th Annual Harvest Table on Sunday November 12 at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich.  Cecily Gans, Executive Chef and Owner of  Main Course Catering & Events and Culinary Arts instructor at Staples High School, will be the guest speaker.  The day will include Silent Auction items, Harvest Market food demonstrations, a Golden Ticket Raffle, a Harvest Lunch, and more.  It lasts from 11am-2:30pm and costs $100 and a non-perishable food item.
