Cask Republic Stamford has announced an Iron Bartender Competition!  It all goes down Monday January 12.  Watch some of CT’s best bartenders compete while enjoying drink specials and limited craft brews. 

For a limited time, enjoy half-priced bottles of wine at Molto in Fairfield on Monday nights.

Half Full of Stamford has launched their “Inspirational Series.”  Try the brews at Cost Less Wines & Liquors in Stamford on Wednesday January 14.   

Taste of New Haven Tours start this week.  The initial event is the “New Haven Symphony Tour” which takes you from popular restaurants to a concert.  Visit The Wine Thief for a wine tasting before heading to Kelly's, Oaxaca, and The Mochi Store. The tour ends at Woolsey Hall in time for the show.  Complimentary symphony tickets are provided for guests who do not have them.  It takes place on January 15.  18 people can participate at a cost of $45 per person.

Deane Inc. & Elm Street Books are hosting an evening with bestselling cookbook author Terry Walters at the Stamford location of DEANE Inc. January 15th, 6pm. Terry Walters will be discussing and preparing recipes from her new book and copies will be available for purchase and signing. On Thursday, January 15, Golden View Firenze of Greenwich will have a wine dinner focusing on wines from Capezzana.  Brand Ambassador Emanuele Gastel will be in attendance to guide you through a 4 course meal paired with the wines.  It goes from 6:45-9:15 p.m. and costs $65 per person, plus tax and gratuity.  Please call 203-817-0919 to reserve.

Participate in the “On 9 Tour” to enjoy food from the Ninth Square area of New Haven.  You’ll visit the Elm City Market, Tikkaway Grill, Skappo Italian Restaurant, Skappo Merkato, Bentara, and Thali.  The tour will take place on Saturday January 17 and begins at 3pm (though they advise arriving at least 10 minutes early).  14 people can participate and it costs $55 per person.  

The following day, take part in a similar tour, this time in New Haven’s Theater District.  Stops include Temple Grill, Orangeside, Bar, Oaxaca Kitchen, Kelly’s Bistro, and Bubbie's Mochi Ice Cream from Jake's Diggity Dogs.  The tour starts at 12pm and lasts for about 4 hours.  http://tasteofnewhaven.com/event-registration/?ee=441 

The Westport Farmers Market continues on Saturdays from 10-2 at Gilbertie’s.

Dinosaur BBQ Stamford has live music for you this weekend!  On Friday the 16, hear the music of songwriting duo Katie Nelson and Scott Troyer.  Saturday the 17, Scott Scopoletti performs.  Entertainment starts at 9pm.  

Looking ahead…

Morello Bistro will host a dinner featuring Blue Point Brewery on Thursday January 22.  Mark Weiner, a representative from Blue Point, will lead the five-course meal.  It starts with a reception at 7:00 followed by dinner at 7:30.  The price is $75 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
