Naughty Water Whiskey Bar and Grille is Black Rock’s newest hot spot for dining and entertainment.  With a nod to Prohibition (hence the “naughty water” euphemism for alcohol) and the nostalgic inclination to foster freedom of expression and the spirit of “indulge your naughty side”, this new addition to the Black Rock scene is fast becoming the go-to place for those seeking something just a tad outside of mainstream. The menu is eclectic Contemporary American featuring whiskey infusion tapas selections along with traditional comfort food with a sweet and savory twist.

At the helm of this stylish new restaurant is Executive Chef Robert Morales, a CIA graduate who’s earliest inspiration was Chef Daniel Boulud. Chef Robert brings more then what you would expect to the “and grille” aspect of this whiskey bar and diners are taking notice of what is now becoming a staple on the new “Restaurant Row” of Black Rock.

Born and raised in Chile, Robert’s farm-to-table philosophy was forged while working on his family’s farm and butcher shop. “Fresh food and seasonal variety are the mainstay of my philosophy toward cuisine. We purchase from both Holbrook Farm in Bethel as well as The Farm in Woodbury. In addition to keeping things fresh,  both originality and consistency are also key. When you create a menu, traditional items should have their own unique quality that remains consistent in every preparation. Consistency will lead to excellence."

The concept of a whiskey bar menu that would spotlight a whiskey infusion theme made for certain guidelines in terms of the cuisine. The challenge is to keep the infusions balanced in order to allow for the freshness and flavor of the food to shine. Featured selections such as Naughty Lobster Salad with Lemon Whiskey Dressing, Bourbon infused Hangar steak, and Filet Mignon served with a whiskey crème sauce are just a few examples that illustrate Chef Robert’s technique in allowing the mélange of flavors to harmoniously dance upon your palate. Brunch selections range from Surf & Turf Tostadas to a Porchetta Sandwich served on a house-made Brioche bun.

This is not where the whiskey infusion ends. If the night calls for naughty, without question, our award winning dessert menu is in order. The Banana Crème Pie with salted caramel, coconut and Fireball whiskey would make even the staunchest teetotaler beg for more.

At Naughty Water we want to create an experience for our patrons, one that embodies all the senses. Artistically arranged presentation of food results in the “WOW” effect before the first bite is enjoyed. Chef Robert explains, “We eat with our eyes, and everything comes together when the colour, the texture and the taste combine."

Naughty Water is a modern day speakeasy with its understated exterior façade that invites you to step inside and be transported into an atmosphere that is rich in detail and stimulates the senses. There’s a rebellious and uninhibited nature in the “naughty is the new nice” vibe that the owners infused into the decor.

High back leather booths and Prohibition era photos adorn the whiskey bar while the dining area is decorated with pin–up girls and nostalgic icons of the sexy and rebellious. Our VIP Lounge features a vintage burlesque reel that teases with just the right amount of naughty. Reserved for private parties and after dinner hours, it is worth a peek. A toe-tapping house play list features rockabilly beats and with a 36 foot long bar there’s ample space for dining, dancing and entertaining.  Voted the number one place for a dance night by CTNOW Fairfield County Readers Poll, there is plenty of room to groove when bands like Tangled Vine and The WhatUp Funk Band are on the bill. For a more relaxed experience, brunch is served Saturdays and Sundays with organic coffee and features patio seating.

“We want our guests to make Naughty Water their go-to place when every day life calls for indulgence of any kind. Good food, good drinks and good vibrations spent with good company. You only live once; why not enjoy some of life’s guiltiest pleasures while you still can? Come. Be Naughty. The indulgence will be worth it.
