Roger Sherman Inn Celebrates Titanic Centennial Last Dinner April 14th
Nes and Joseph Jaffre, owners of the Roger Sherman Inn in New Canaan, CT announced today that the Inn is hosting an event-‐packed recreation of the legendary Titanic’s last dinner on Saturday, April 14th. “Night to Remember” includes 7-course recreation of actual First Class menu while raising funds for American Red Cross.
Come on board the ‘U.S.S. Roger Sherman Inn’ as it commemorates the Titanic’s 100th anniversary. The Inn, known for its history and elegance, offers the perfect setting to host a luxurious evening that was the hallmark of the Titanic. Throughout the night, guests will relive the grandeur of the Titanic with a lavish champagne welcome, a seven-‐course dinner that recreates the final First Class menu, dancing to the music of the era with a wonderful string quartet and open bar.
The event will raise funds for the American Red Cross, which aided the Titanic survivors and the victims’ families 100 years ago, and today continues to aid victims of disasters. Roger Sherman Inn will donate ten percent of ticket sales to American Red Cross Disaster Relief. Plus, a silent live auction will generate additional funds for the Red Cross.
As Nes Jaffre emphasized “the Final Dinner on the Titanic will be an once-‐in-‐a-‐ lifetime event. We’re creating an amazing evening with lots of touches that replicate the Titanic. Guests will be issued boarding passes, with actual personalities from the ship. I really hope people will get into the spirit and get creative with costuming. There will be some surprises but let me say that our guests will be treated royally and feel as though they’re on a journey to another era.”
Attending the event as a guest of the Inn will be Helen Behr Sanford, who recently published Starboard at Midnight, the memoir of her grandfather, who along with her grandmother and great grandparents survived the Titanic.
