Kent Falls Brewery Pops Up At Mockingbird Kitchen Litchfield

Chef and owner Samantha Tilley of Mockingbird Kitchen & Bar in Litchfield says she draws inspiration for their menus from the Northern Mockingbird, who masters a wide variety of bird calls, to create a global culinary offering showcasing the bounty of their nearby Tenth Acre Farm and northwestern Connecticut. It’s a natural fit for this October’s partnership with Kent Falls farm brewery, which will run all month long.

Kent Falls will have their team on hand pouring beers, while Sam and her squad run the kitchen and turn out some incredible food from a special October menu. Events will include the first “Thursday Night Market” in over a year, with a local seafood monger (To The Gills) shucking oysters, a cheesemonger (New Curds On The Block) offering local cheeses to enjoy on site or take home, and one of the pair’s favorite local bakers (Beau Noir) selling fresh goods.

“Sam from Mockingbird was excited by the idea of collaborating on an event, and while discussing the challenges and limitations our brewery’s tasting room has faced this year the idea came about to collaborate on a month-long tasting room experience during peak season around the farm,” Kent Falls head brewer Barry Labenz told us at CTBites.

There will be some other events, including new beer releases every week to be announced as the popup rolls along. A Kent Falls gueuze (a blend of 1, 2, and 3 year old lambic sours), and an apple aperitif barrel aged Multiverse stout, in partnership with Neversink spirits in nearby upstate New York, are the first offerings currently at Mockingbird.

The Kent Falls tasting room will stay open, operating as they have all year with small pours/flights as the on-site option. Cans/bottles will be available for purchase to-go at both locations.
