We may still be in the grips of Winter here in Connecticut, but many passionate food obsessed are joining the over 60, 000 who attend the South Beach Wine + Food Festival in Miami, which begins this Wednesday 2/24 with Taste of Fort Lauderdale kickoff event Seaside Eats , and continues until Sunday 2/28 with over 80 different events, seminars and intimate dinners. 

Our own CTbites Events Curator and MIAbites Managing Editor, Ellen Bowen will be reporting LIVE on Periscope, Vine, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter throughout the event including during the TODAY Show’s Broadcast & Breakfast on Friday 2/25 beginning at 8 am.  Follow MIAbites1 at Friday’s Oyster Bash at 4 pm at Lure Fish bar and Meatopia on the beach outside of The Delano on Saturday beginning at 7 pm.  And throughout the weekend as she attends craft beer seminars, food tastings and wine pairings.

AND, this year, Connecticut is in “da house”, as James Beard Humanitarian, Michel Nischan of Wholesome Wave, hosts a special Farm to Table Dinner Saturday 2/27 with James Beard winning chef, Michael Anthony of Gramercy Tavern and Untitled At The Whitney at the retro- Art Deco boutique hotel, The Traymore by Metropolitan by COMO. 

New Haven’s own celebrity chef and James Beard semifinalist, Chef Bun Lai of Miya’s Sushi presents a month long residency beginning Friday 2/25 at the new green certified 1 Hotel featuring a unique sustainable dining experience on fresh fish and invasive species as part of his Prey series.  

And our friends from Barcelona and Bartaco  have also flown the winter coop, as new Barcelona Culinary Director, Chris Lee, joins Chef Jose Andres for a poolside Paella Fest at the SLS Hotel , and Bartaco Culinary Director,  Jonathan Rohland will be roasting a whole pig at Swine & Wine at the classic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables.
