For Marcia Selden Catering, a night of wedding magic with Vera Wang was the perfect way to kick off wedding season. Here’s how Selden’s team created a picture perfect menu in celebration of Vera Wang’s new Spring/Summer 2020 collection.
The elegant décor and details were breath taking, arranged by PartySlate and YSD Events. As guests approached the entrance of the Weylin, known as the most exceptional event space in NYC, they were greeted by a quartet of violinists and a team of beautiful servers offering bubbly.
Guests enjoyed cocktails and passed Hors d’Oeuvres while waiting for the white drapes to be lifted revealing the ethereal dining room in Weylin’s Oculus Dome.
Wanna know what the guests ate? Yes please. Hors d’oeuvres Included: Marcia Selden Catering’s signature Golden Eggs filled with Boursin Mashed Potatoes, Crème Fraiche, & Caviar, Rice Cakes with Sambal Aioli, Pickled Ginger, Edamame & Shitake Mushrooms, Tuna Gravlax Arepas, and Short Rib Truffle with Horseradish Cream.
Floating in spotlight was a sneak peak of Vera Wang’s Spring/ Summer line. The cocktails were flowing and the mood was set with the melody of an electric trumpet. The room was buzzing! As the drapes were drawn to unveil the Oculus Dome, an opera singer sang and her voice filled every inch of the Weylin’s extraordinary space.
The room had a heavenly glow, everything in white, crystal and silver, literally sparkling, as guests watched the Vera Wang fashion show. Crystal candelabras lit the way, white florals, white carpet lined the floor, white marble plates and a white platform stage ready for Vera Wang to make her debut.
Servers poured champagne and placed a trio of tiny rolls on the tables; to enjoy with our handcrafted compound butter wedding cakes made of turmeric ginger, fresh basil pesto and French butter.
Vera flipped over our creativity and loved that we took something so simple and made it so beautiful.
Vera greeted the crowd, “ This is truly, an extraordinary, extraordinary setting.” Introducing her new design she said, “I like to hope that every year I bring everything I possibly can from a creative stand point, to all the women in the world, it means the world to me!”
Following Vera’s welcome, we served a custom designed three-course dinner which the guests enjoyed; the menu included,
White Asparagus & Shaved Fennel Salad, Cracked Hazelnuts, Aged Parmesan & White Truffle Vinaigrette.
Miso Sea Bass, with Caramelized Coconut String Beans, Carrot Ginger Puree & Squid Ink Tuile
Dark Chocolate Raspberry Bar with Meringue Shards & Coco Dust
As models made their way around the circular tables showcasing a variety of Vera’s seductive and elegant 2020 designs, guests raved about the food and presentation.
It was and experience that we will never forget at Marcia Selden Catering, as it was truly one of the most magnificently beautiful events we've ever created.
