Weekly Nibble: Chili Challenge, 'Green' Wine, Grilled Cheese Class, Tap Takeover @ The Gingerman + More

Stratford Restaurant Week returns April 19 – 25.    Over 20 of Stratford’s best restaurants are offering specially priced menus for restaurant week.  

Fairfield Cheese Company invites you to “Grilled Cheese: Beyond Kraft Singles and White Bread.” Chris show you twists on the classic and teach you how to make the ultimate grilled cheese.  The class costs $45.00 and will be held at the Fairfield Location on Tuesday April 21 from 7-9pm and the Greenwich location Thursday April 23 from 7-9pm.  

Allagash Brewing Company takes over the taps at Gingerman SoNo on Wednesday April 22 starting at 6pm. 

Also on Wednesday, Harry’s in Fairfield hosts a “Green” Wine Class to educate you on organic, biodynamic, sustainable, and other environmentally friendly vino.  It goes from 7:00-9:00pm and costs $35 for one session.  

The Women's Business Council of Danbury is hosting their fifth annual Conversations with Extraordinary Women on April 23 at 5 to 8 pm at the Matrix Conference Center in Danbury, including CTbites' Executive Editor Amy Kundrat and best-selling author of Sneaky Chef Foods, Missy Chase Lapine. 

The British are coming!  On Friday April 24, the Cottrell Brewing team will hold a British Beer Dinner featuring English-Style brews paired with pub favorites.  It will take place at the brewery from 7-9:30pm.  The 3 course meal costs $50 per person.

On April 24, Westport’s The Fresh Market invites you to attend a free cooking demonstration.  You’ll see how to make aTuscan Style Steak with Red Wine Peppercorn Sauce and Pan Seared Vegetables with Lemon Honey Vinaigrette .  This event takes place from 3-6pm.

Craving traditional Hungarian food or simply up to try a new type of cuisine?  On Saturday April 25, Chicken Paprikash with dumplings is going to be sold from 9 AM to 1:00 PM at the Calvin Hall of the Calvin United Church (901 Kings Hwy E Fairfield, CT 06825) for $9.50.  To order call Edith at 631-384-2336.

The 2nd Annual Charity Chili Challenge sponsored by the Exchange Clubs of North Stamford, Stamford and Norwalk will be on Sunday, April 26 from 1:00-4:00 pm at Trinity Catholic High School, 926 Newfield Avenue, Stamford.  Entry is a donation of $10 and kids under 10 are free.
