This Memorial Day, you can support our troops by eating delicious dishes from Dinosaur BBQ in Stamford!  Each time you dig into a “Sweetheart Deal” or a “Brisket Plate,” Dinosaur Bar-B-Que will be donating $$ to the nonprofit organization Wounded Warriors Project, which supports a full range of programs and services for this generation of injured veterans and their families.  Take part in this from Sunday, May 25th through Monday, May 26th.

It’s a Memorial Day BBQ at Barcelona Fairfield!  An all-day buffet will be served from 1-9pm for $20 adult and $10 for children.  Nick Marzock will performs live from 2-6pm and there will be face painting for the kids from 1:30-4:30pm.  There will even be a Narragansett Brewery beer tasting.  Full menu & details here.

Wednesday May 28, Half Full Brewery in Stamford invites you to participate in a pub run! From 6:30–7:30pm, run a little, beer a little. Runners of all ability levels can start and finish at the brewery the 4th Wednesday of every month.

Also on the 28th, Harry’s in Fairfield wants to remind you that “Tis the Season for the Refreshing Wines of Summer.” This class will introduce you to a selection of wonderfully refreshing selections, both white and red, from around the world that are sure to please.  Find some new favorites for around the pool, at picnics, and for all those “al fresco” dinners. $35, 6-9pm. Thursday May 29, Housatonic Habitat for Humanity will hold its 4th annual wine tasting event at Shelter Rock Winery in Danbury.  Shelter Rock Winery uses no preservatives, sulfides and sulfates for a terrific tasting wine.  $20 per person, 6-8pm. 

New Canaan Wine Merchants will open its cellar on Thursday night!  Starting at 6:30, guests can choose any bottle in the store to open, chat about, and taste every 15 minutes.

On Thursday, May 29, the waterfront lawn of the Connecticut River Museum will be the scenic setting for RiverFare 2014, the unofficial kick off of summer on the shoreline, featuring savory bites, fine spirits and silent auction overlooking scenic Essex Harbor. RiverFarers can sample signature dishes and drinks while perusing and bidding on a diverse array of fine gifts, services, and entertainment experiences up for silent auction.  Event proceeds will help support the Connecticut River Museum’s mission to increase public awareness and access to the heritage, culture, and natural beauty of New England’s Great River. Live music returns to Walrus + Carpenter in Bridgeport on Thursday night.  Symphonic Bodega goes on at 8:30pm.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to brew beer at home, the Greenwich Library has the answers! On Friday May 30, learn about the beer home brewing process from start to finish, while a batch of beer is brewed right in front of you.  Pizza and refreshments will be provided and samples of homebrew will be available. Also on Friday, the Winemakers Boutique in Stratford, CT will be hosting a Vendors Night and Wine Tasting event for a “Ladies Night Out" event.   Admission is FREE, but they ask that you bring a nonperishable food item such as cereal or peanut butter to help the Sterling House Food Bank. http://www.thewinemakersboutique.com/events.htm 

Italy’s #1 selling wine is now available in Connecticut!  On Saturday May 31, Premier Wine & Spirits in Fairfield welcomes “Freschello” wine to the States with a wine tasting from 1-5.  The wine is bottled fresh and eco-friendly.  It is perfect for the patio or for summer sangrias. 

Think Match is great for dinner? For the first time in their 14-year history, they're launching lunch, pop-up style. Join them three days a week, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11:30 am – 2 pm.  Each week, they’ll transform Match into one of our favorite lunch themed restaurants, by putting aside the usual menu and letting our chefs get creative to keep your curiosity piqued.

June 1: Chef Michael Bick, owner of Some Things Fishy Catering and Bick’s Burgers, will be holding his first farm-to-table dinner of the season at Holbrook Farm in Bethel starting at 4 and going until dusk…yeah, that much food is served.  Tickets are $75 and it’s a BYOB event.  We’ve always had a great time, so this is one event we’d definitely recommend.  Find the menu and order tickets here.

June 3:  Two of our favorite things, cheese and chutney, will be the subject of this latest Cheese School class at Fairfield Cheese Company.  Tix are $45 and can be purchased by calling up (203) 292-8194.  This pairing and tasting event starts at 7 and goes until 9 pm.
