Millstone Fall Workshops: Canning Tomatoes & Pickling

Millstone Farms has come up with a way to preserve our seasonal bounty. Summer tomatoes and other vegetables can be enjoyed all winter long with their fall workshops on Canning Tomatoes and Pickling. These workshops take place at the always beautiful Millstone Farm in Wilton, and are led by by veteran farmer Annie Farrell. If you haven't made it out to Millstone yet, this is a great reason to get closer to the source. Information on these workshops can be found below:

Canning Tomatoes

Saturday, September 22nd: 1pm – 4pm
Cost: $30;   RSVP to katie@millstonefarm.org or call(203) 834-2605

Farmer Annie has been preserving foods for many years. She will show us the basics and some of her tricks for canning tomatoes. We will make a tomato sauce and a spicy salsa dip. This will be an interactive workshop. So be prepared to chop, cook, can and taste. If you have some of your own homegrown tomatoes bring them along so you have a taste of your garden preserved for the winter.

Pickling

Saturday, October 20th or Sunday, October 21st (exact date and time TBD)
Cost: $30;   RSVP to katie@millstonefarm.org or call(203) 834-2605

Our resident Farmer Annie has a secret recipe for some very scrumptious pickles. At this workshop she will teach us the basics of making delicious and healthy pickles. With this foundation, you will be well on your way to creating your own secret recipe that will be the envy of your friends!
