Chef Matt Storch@ The Westport Farmers' Market Aug. 16

This Thursday, August 16th, Matt Storch, Executive Chef and Co-Owner of Match in South Norwalk, will be bringing his new American cuisine to the Westport Farmers’ Market

Have you ever been to Match? Have you had the pleasure of visiting this hip little spot situated in the middle of SoNo? Been served up Storch’s Asain inspired American cooking and enjoyed the restaurant named the “Best Overall Restaurant and Best Service in Fairfield County” in 2010? If you just smiled or nodded yes to yourself, my job is done. I can stop this article here. Let’s just plan on meeting up Thursday at the Market (or better yet, dinner tonight?).  Yet, for the few of you who have not yet had the opportunity to make it to Match…Thursday is approaching and my advice to you… seize the day!

Chef Storch is known for highlighting his ever-changing dishes with seasonal, local ingredients, and his appearance at the Market will be no exception.  Arriving early with a few essentials in tow, Storch plans on visiting the vendors, perusing the Market until a dish catches his eye.  A regular shopper at the Market, he plans on letting the produce do the talking and will use whatever ingredients call out the loudest.  Though keeping his options open, Chef Storch let it slip that he may make some sort of play on tomatoes since, after all, tis the season for the plump, juicy fruit. His bag of supplies may also include some fresh mozzarella as well as some Asian spices to create his signature flare. Whatever Matt Storch demonstrates, he is sure to do so in his Match/Chelsea way, promising a presentation that will have your stomachs grumbling and curiosity growing as you add Match to your dining bucket list.

Matt Storch has also just opened a new restaurant in Fairfield, The Chelsea, with Scott Beck and Kevin McHugh. A little more casual, this gastropub is already on track to becoming one of Fairfield County’s newest hotspots. If  the food is anything like Match, I’m already sold.

Two days and counting  … can’t wait to see you at the Market!

I had a gret meal at Match this past weekend. I enjoyed the delicious beets with hazlenuts and warm goat cheese and then the Wild Bass will outrageous potato, cippolini onions, and raisins.
