FroYo World Opens on Westport / Norwalk Border

There’s a new yogurt place in town and Froyo World is a delicious treat you don’t want to miss! Located at 361 Post Road West between John’s Best and Milo’s Methods, in Westport, this hidden gem is sure to delight you. Going to school in North Carolina, there are at least four frozen yogurt shops within five miles of me and as a result I have developed a growing (and healthy??) obsession with this frozen treat. Of course, I have my favorites and a few classic concoctions I tend to repeat, but I’m always looking for something new.  As the frozen yogurt fad continues to grow, many shops are becoming interchangeable, offering similar flavors with the same standard toppings. That being said, I walked into Froyo World after their grand opening Saturday, June 29th eager to see what I’d find.

Spinning 10 flavors daily, Froyo World offers combinations I’ve yet to find elsewhere. From light, fruity White Peach Tea Tart, Berry Swirl Tart, Honey Lavender Tart to decadent Toasted Almond, Tiramisu Pie, Blueberry Cheesecake and Apple Pie a la Mode, their flavors are guaranteed to consistently impress you.  After sampling just about every flavor offered and doing a once over on the toppings, I decided on Pomegranate-Raspberry Tart swirled with Original Tart.  Next, the fun of picking toppings...with 45 to choose from, you can imagine my sweet dilema. As I said, I am somewhat of a yogurt expert but Froyo World’s extensive toppings bar impressed even me. Though I settled on granola, coconut, almonds, and fruit (strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, mango) there were some standouts that caught my eye.  They offered peanuts, broken up waffle cones, English toffee pieces, s’more bits, caramel turtles and chocolate covered pretzels, all of which I plan on going back to sample!

A feature worth mentioning and unique to Froyo World, is the nutritional information that Froyo World provides. Although some yogurt shops provide information online, Froyo World has a small LCD screen above each flavor, detailing the nutritional information and ingredients for the inquiring mind.  They believe in offering a yogurt for everyone, with dairy free, sugar free, and gluten free options always available. For dairy free eaters, Froyo World has a rotating menu of 15 different sorbets including Tropical Punch, Strawberry Lemonade, Kiwi Strawberry, and Key Lime Pie to name just a few.

Owner Sharon Brockwell, mother of four and a Westport resident, has succeeded in making this yogurt shop a destination on many summer bucket lists.  With its music and welcoming décor, Froyo World is already a popular hangout in the community and is busy from 11:30 am until closing at 9:30 (10:30 on Friday/Saturday). I went on a Thursday afternoon and the place was packed, with some customers taking their Froyo to go, while other’s got comfortable and enjoyed an afternoon break.  This is one yogurt shop I would go out of my way to visit and I highly recommend you give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed!
