Bodega Taco Bar to Open in Darien

According to the Lunch Break Chronicles, Bodega Taco Bar will be opening in Darien at 980 Post Road this fall.

Chef Michael Young, owner of the popular Valencia Luncheria in Norwalk and the recently opened Bodega Taco Bar in Fairfield will open the second Bodega, expanding his culinary journey from Venezuela to Mexico, in the well-received "tacos and tequila with a slice of Brooklyn" concept. Check out our first post about Bodega to get a feel for the menu.

I went to Bodega in Darien for the 10th or 11th time and while the food has been lackluster the last few times, the experience has been good - until now. A few friends had gathered for dinner and were ordering drinks and plenty of food and the service was bad - bad like I had to refill my own water and when we ordered the waiter said "that's it?" like we were offending him by not ordering a ton. Of course, that was nothing compared to being asked to give up our table after being seated for 1.25 hours - forget the dessert, coffee, etc. This was all made worse when I asked the host what is name was so that when I wrote in I could identify his rude behavior he replied with (A) a fake name and (B) snidely reciting his social security number - I found out from other servers that his name was FRANK TATTY. Good luck with your meal here - maybe if you are looking for an over priced meal with your kids go for it but as far as a place for adults - go down the street to 1020 Post or even Darien Social - : (

I thought it was m so I am glad to see others have had the same experience. Bodega (Fairfield) was my go to place for consistently amazing food and cocktails. After my last 2 visits (and I have been a fan of this group since the early Valencia days) I can not honestly say I will return. Food has lost its zing and the music is so damn loud you can not have a conversation (maybe so you will hurry so they can fill your seat?). Even the guac. was lackluster. Something was just off and to say the food came out fast would be an understatement (pre-cooked and just reheated is not what I expect). Even the rice and beans was non-descript. So not what it was. What a shame.
