A Sneak Peek @ The NEW Valencia Luncheria in Norwalk

We recently reported on Valencia Luncheria's highly anticipated expansion plan which has this Fairfield County arepa haven moving down the street to a significantly larger location at 164 Main Street in Norwalk. Regulars wondered if the new place would retain the just stepped off the Venezuelan beachside charm of Valencia 1.0, a tiny spot whose uniquely delicious menu has won over locals as well as Guy Fieri of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Loyal patrons need not fear. Owner, Michael Young, recently toured CTbites around the new Valencia Luncheria, and all of the rustic and reclaimed touches, bright colors, and the signature wall of plantains, are still in the house. There are, however, some significant upgrades about which you'll want to know. Here's the rundown on what to look for in the new Valencia Luncheria, currently scheduled to open by the end of May.

No need to drag your bottle from home. Valencia 2.0 has a bar. Although still under construction, you can almost hear the music and see the packed bar stools that are to come. Valencia now has a 12 seat bar, and will be serving specialty cocktails, wine and beer. 

Make-Your-Own Bloody Mary Bar. We love this one. When guests walk up to the counter, they will find themselves standing behind a vintage 1930's sink. Why the sink? It's certainly not for dishes. Rather, customers will be able to order from a variety of premium vodkas, 4 different types of tomato juice, (and here's where it gets really good), and select from 16-20 topping to enhance your already perfectly decadent cocktail. Everything but the vodka can be found in the sink. Now that says Sunday morning to me. Cheddar jalapeños fries, pickled green beans, grilled shrimp, and grilled veggies are just a few of the planned accoutrements.

Owner, Michael Young, says "This will be a great test for excessive alcohol consumption because you have to stand up to order your next drink." 

"The ordering process at the new Valencia Luncheria will be a lot like Katz's Deli in New York," says Young.

In Valencia 2.0 diners will be able to enjoy waiter service during the breakfast and lunch hours, unlike Valencia 1.0. For those of you who like to see the goods before you eat, or enjoy stretching your legs before a big meal, ordering is also welcome at the counter. 

The transformation from this space's original tenant, Blue Moon Bistro, is truly remarkable. Four times the size of Valencia 1.0, Michael Young and his partner Luis Chavez have created a game changing venue that will alter the night life in this Norwalk neighborhood. And let's hope the lines are shorter...

Please don't change your menu at all. When a restaurant expands, their food usually changes too, and not for the better. Everything is perfect, fresh and yummy as is. Thanks!
