Tokeneke's Pumpkin Carnival in Darien October 15th

Tokeneke’s annual Pumpkin Carnival will take place Saturday, October 15th from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.  The rain date is October 16th.  For over forty years, Tokeneke’s Pumpkin Carnival, held at the Tokeneke Elementary School on Old Farm Road, has been an annual tradition for families in and around Darien. The Carnival features attractions for all ages, including a haunted house, rides, games and crafts, rock climbing, bouncy castles, a bake sale and raffle prizes.  In addition, food will be provided by Burgers, Shakes & Fries, Upper Crust Bakery & Café, and Heights Pizza.

Over the years, the enrichment program has helped bring inspirational visitors in the arts and science into the classroom for personal visits and instruction with students. The Carnival is organized each year by the Tokeneke Parent Teacher Organization (TPTO). Local businesses are key supporters of the event, donating prizes for the raffle. Among the prizes this year are a BMW pedal car, front of the line passes for all carnival rides, a JAM Sono gift basket, and an assortment of Vineyard Vines clothing and accessories. In addition, this year’s grand prize is an Xbox Kinect complete with a game.

Since when is it not called the Tokeneke Big Pumpkin Fair? I attended Tokeneke when I was a kid. I loved The Big Pumpkin! I think I might still have t-shirts that I made 30 years ago. Ha!
