Easter & Passover Eats in Fairfield County, CT

Easter & Passover are just around the corner, and we've been vigilantly scoping out interesting holiday sweets & savories, restaurant reservations, and catering tips to share with you. Here are a few nibbles to get you started on your holiday planning, but this is just a sampling. If you have come across an holiday event or product find, please let us know by posting a comment below. 

What's Easter Without Chocolate?

Belgique Chocolatier in New Canaan is Easter central with 3-feet high chocolate rabbits weighing in at approx. 23 pounds. They also make smaller sizes, as well as chocolate nests with chocolate/hazelnut speckled eggs, chocolate hens and chicks, chocolate eggs to fill with chocolates, bunnies pulling carts with chocolate eggs, etc.

Chocopologie's Knipschildt Chocolatier also has a beautiful assortment of Robin's Eggs and specialty chocolates for Easter. Refer to their web site for more information.

Easter Reservations: Eating Out

If you are eating out, The Schoolhouse at Cannondale in Wilton is throwing an Easter Sunday Brunch: 9:30 am - 1:30 pm, $35pp ($25 kids) includes Champagne, Mimosa, or Bloody Mary to toast the holiday with your selection of an entrée, side & dessert (menu to be posted soon).

Bernards in Ridgefield is also doing an Easter Sunday Brunch from 11:00 – 12:30, a Three Course Prix Fixe $45 pp/ kids $25. Call 203-438-8282 for reservations. 

Napa & Company in Stamford is celebrating Easter from 11:30- 3:00pm with a creative brunch c/o Chef Arik offering a la carte selections as well as a prix fix 2 course menu paired with a glass of Rose for $30pp. Call 203-353-9133 for reservations. 

L'Escale in Greenwich is featuring an Easter Buffet with Chef Francois' Provencal twist at $65 pp, $25 for kids. Call 203-661-4600 for reservations. 

Passover Catering

The Cutting Board in Ridgefield has a very complete Passover Menu with all the fixins'. If you are in lower Fairfield County, check out Tabouli Grill in Stamfordoffering a beautiful catering menu virtually eliminating all need for cooking this Passover. 

Passover & Easter Sweets, Savories + Drinks

Michelle Klem of Cakesuite will be offering the following dessert treats: Lemon tea-cakes with pastel glaze, Coconut fluff cakes, Robin’s nest cupcakes, Flourless chocolate eggs

Peace Tree Desserts Easter menu: Lemon Thyme Honey Ricotta Cheesecake made with Beltane Farm's goat's milk ricotta , Salted Caramel Brioche Cinnamon Rolls with house-made brioche and many more wonderful organic treat baked with locally sourced ingredients. Contact them at peacetreedesserts@gmail.com or 203-448-8927. 

Starting this Thursday Scratch Baking in Milford will be serving treats and savories for both Easter and Passover! They are also taking orders for Easter breads, cupcakes, pies and cut-out cookies. For Passover: Date & Walnut Squares, Matzo Bark, Flourless Chocolate Cake, Macaroons, Matzo Lasagne  For Easter: Cut-Out Cookies, Easter Cupcakes, Apple and Pecan Pies, Hot Cross Buns. Fairway Market in Stamford has for a limited time, Fougasse (pronounced "foo-GOSS"). This is a traditional French decorative bread, made with a light airy dough, similar to their focaccia. Drizzled with their tarragon-infused olive oil, finished with minced tarragon, this is a nice addition to the holiday table. Reheat for maximum goodness. (Seen above)

The Study Fine Wines at 1066 North Street in Greenwich (203.340.9410) offers a wonderful selection of Kosher wines for Passover including the following:

- intense grapefruit & lime; pair with the bitter herbs!

I was in the shop on Sunday. The 23-pounder could take on a small dog, yet was surprisingly affordable, all things considered. No I did not purchase one. I don't have a car seat.
