Ad: Play With Your Food - Spots Still Open in Fairfield!!

Play with your food is back for a little Valentines Day romance, and there are a few spots left.  If you have never seen & eaten @ Play With Your Food, the concept is simple. During their 12noon -1:30 p.m. program, audiences are first treated to a pre-performance buffet lunch (catered by venues such as Spin & Span Market, Nicholas Roberts, DaPietro's, and The Pantry), before enjoying 3 one-act plays and a follow-up discussion with the actors.  It is a combined social and theatrical experience, diverse and compelling entertainment to be savored mid-day during the work week. It is also the perfect break from suburban life.

The Greenwich and Westport 2011 season are sold out but there are still spots available in Fairfield for the February 15th show. The plays picked for this production aim to warm the hearts of theater patrons, according to show organizers. “We don’t necessarily plan our line-ups thematically,” said PWYF’s Artistic Director Carole Schweid. “But putting these three wonderfully written pieces together struck me as a compelling program and, coincidentally, fell near Valentines’ Day.”

And now back to the food. Spic N Span Market will be catering the Fairfield 15th show. Here's what's on the menu: Crab salad and spring mix wraps: Tarragon Chicken Salad on Texas roll with lettuce and tomato; Veggie wraps with curried mayo; Penne, spinach and gorgonzola salad; Mesclun salad with walnuts and cranberries in balsamic vinaigrette: Chocolate Chip and Oatmeal cookies: and coffee by Starbucks

Schweid is making use of a wide pool of talent in selecting actors to read for the PWYF season. “Putting the right cast together is an important element of Play With Your Food,’ she says. “Luckily, we live in an area that is filled with accomplished actors, Tony Award winners and leading Broadway and film and TV performers. We also are acquainted with some important young working actors from New York and Fairfield County .”

Upcoming Fairfield Theatre Company dates are February 15, March 15 and April 12. Play With Your Food also appears in Westport and Greenwich. Advance reservations required. For detailed schedule information or to purchase tickets, $43, call (203) 293-8831 or visit www.playwithyourfood.org
