2011 was a great year for restaurant old and new, underground dinners and farmers' markets. We know you all ate some great food over the past 12 months.

The soppressata & chilies (with carmelized onion) pizza at Stanziato's in Danbury. It is an ideal combination of salt and spice, savory and sweet. I find myself craving it almost every week.

1) Lobster salad at The Boathouse at Saugatuck
2) Salmon a la Plancha at Brasitas and
3) Pork dish at Ambler farm from The Schoolhouse at Cannondale (wish I had the recipe)

- Meat Lover Sicilian pizza at the dearly departed Arcudi's
- Hanger Steak w/shallots (+Croque Monsieur for lunch) at Luc's
- Iskender Kabob (+ baklava) at the original Bereket at the Citgo
- Chicken Parm at Mario the Baker (Bridgeport)... sounds familiar, but it's a must-have
- Anything on the Redding Roadhouse Octoberfest menu
- Seared scallops with roasted corn, fresh tomato, and edamame at Bodega Taco Bar in Fairfield
- Roasted salmon and brown rice chopped salad at Strada 18 in South Norwalk
- Shrimp and beans appetizer from V Restaurant in Westport
- Stuffed brioche french toast with vanilla pastry cream and mixed berries from Sono Baking Company in South Norwalk
I'm taking the show on the road for the answer to this question since I enjoyed too many incredible meals in FFD County in 2011 to choose 1. Yes that is called being a coward. :-)
For my Birthday my family treated me to a food-fest in New Orleans with an incredible BBQ Shrimp at Mr. B's Bistro followed by a Birthday Dinner at Restairant August.
CTbites Invites Da Pietro's Lunch event....creamy polenta with marscapone and mushrooms, crab cakes over pommery mustard sauce topped with mesculn greens and pumpkin panna cotta with fresh berries.
I'm going with the dishes I have eaten most often this year:
Valencia Luncheria's "Breakfast Typico" featuring soft poached eggs, black beans, avocado & rice with their "crack" Chipotle sauce.
Napa & Co's Charred Octopus with Chorizo (or Harissa) and Chick Peas
leFarm's Shrimp & Grits...the ultimate comfort food.
Matt Storch's (Match) White Truffle Risotto. Only had the opportunity to eat this once but I'm still thinking of that first bite.
The burrata at LeFarm...delish!

Burger at Lefarm is pretty, pretty, pretty good but last week had the pork belly on cornbread with apples and it may knock the burger from the top of the Lefarm mountain.
