Win Tickets to See Anthony Bourdain Live in Stamford

Anthony Bourdain, the internationally acclaimed chef, author and host of Travel Channel's “No Reservations,” will be speaking at Stamford Center for the Arts in Stamford on February 12 at 8 pm

If you haven't purchased tickets yet, you may be in luck! We snagged two for a couple of lucky CTbites readers. In order to win a pair of tickets to see Bourdain live in Stamford, just comment on this post and share a restaurant recommendation that Bourdain may enjoy while he's in town during his appearance. We'll randomly select (using random integers) a winner who will receive two tickets to the event.

Please enter to win by commenting on this post by February 4 at noon.

If you are familiar with the Travel Channel's "No Reservations," and his best-selling books including Kitchen Confidential and the recent Medium Raw, you know Bourdain is no delicate flower. Bourdain shares his fascinating, honest, and sometimes shocking observations about the world of restaurants, chefs and cooking peppered with glimpses of his own life during these appearances.

Tickets are $39.50 and $47.50 through scalive.org, by phone at 203.325.4466, or at the Palace Theatre Box Office. A limited number of VIP packages are available for $83, which includes premium seating and an exclusive post-show meet-and-greet. The Palace Theater is located at 61 Atlantic Street, Stamford, CT.

It's been so long since I dined in Stamford, I'm not sure what to suggest! Everyone talks about Napa & Co. How about that one?

Well I am certainly a fan of No Reservations, and find viewing Mr. Bourdains travel experiences greatly entertaining
and often enlightening.
Had the good fortune of seeing him in Hartford as part of the Ct Forum discussion Food for Thought with Alice Waters and Duff Goldman. He can play nice with others ! It was fun to hear this panel.
Would absolutely love to attend the SCA show.
Stamford dining...mmm.. Ole Mole is flavorful . About the only place in Stamford I could find interesting. Valencia in Norwalk is AWESOMELY delicious and so is Sugar and Olives. Sorry Stamford.

It's good to see Anthony Bourdain coming to town. So of course, being a resident of Stamford, I have to give a big yay for the restaurants here. Stamford has some great restaurants that he might have an interest in. Let's see, there's Telluride, Tabouli Grill for Mediterranean and Israeli fare or Eos. For a taste of Indian cuisine, there's Tawa on Summer Street (a/k/a restaurant row).

Seriously people. This is Bourdain we are talking about. Colony Grill, case closed.

Coalhouse. Next question?

His Indian show was repeated yesterday afternoon. How about Coromandel ?

Yay!! How fun! I am most definitely a big fan.
If I was going to send him anywhere in FC it would be Pasta Nostra.

My favorite restaurant in Stamford is Siena Ristorante on Summer Street. There are many Italian restaurants in Fairfield County that serve Italian-American dishes and do it well. However, being fortunate enough to have visited Italy a few times myself, I can tell you that Siena is truly an authentic Italian restaurant. Owner Pasquale Conte is from the island of Ischia off of Naples, so even though Siena is billed as a Tuscan restaurant, dishes on the menu actually come from all regions of Italy, from the north to the south. One of my favorite appetizers is the grilled squid with farro, arugula and tomato -- delicious. I think Anthony Bourdain would enjoy Siena as much as I do.

Is Port Chester eligible? If so, why not pay a visit to Andy Nusser at Tarry Lodge. Food is delish and he could cruise through Tarry Market as well. But, if it's Stamford, I agree with Edward -- BoBo's Colony Grill!

Arcudi's in Westport OR Bereket in Bridgeport (stick with the one behind the Citgo station)

Hopefully I can be entered though I don't have any suggestions, I've never eaten in Stamford, I'm from the Hartford Area, and up this way, I'd probably recommend maybe Jerkfish Jamaican in middletown. But nothing in Stambford, though I am more than willing to travel there to see him, huge fan.

I have to agree with Ed, we're talking about Bourdain. If he's only eating in Stamford, Colony is a must. But if he's willing to take a ride down I-95, I think Swanky Frank’s in Norwalk would be right up his alley. Hot dogs "boiled in oil", it doesn’t get better than that!

My recommendation would be for Brasitas. Off the beaten path of downtown Stamford, but well worth the trip...especially for delicious Colombian chorizo and other Latin specialites. Not to mention those addictive plantain chips & salsa!!!!

Hands down, El Charrito. Either the truck if it's still operating through the snow or the permanent location in Riverside.

January 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterFred

Definitely Valencia Luncheria

January 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterjill

Hot Oil & Sausage at Colony. Only place in town with enough attitude to match Bourdain's.

January 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNacho Libre

Colony is a good choice-- I also like the Taco Truck-- but its so cooooold

January 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterjoanna

It appears only a couple commenters thus far are familiar with Bourdain's tastes.

If he wanted fine dining, he'd go a couple exits south to Greenwich.
If he wanted hipster dining, he'd go a few exits east to SoNo.

Instead, he'll want to go to the little dive bar joint next to the exit called Colony Bar and Grill where they serve short beers and crappy, oily, kitcshy pizza-type-things. He would wax poetic about the crappiness of Colony while devouring 3 of their little hot oil pies.

January 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSteve

Its obvious in Stamford, Colony Grill, the biggest stamford dinning institution. Otherwise he should head up to Norwalk and see what Robert is cooking up at Nicholas Roberts.

January 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKevin

Oh, my wife is in love with the Food Channel and Anthoney Bourdain, hopefully we can get at least one of those two tickets....lol. We have so many favorite spots close by, Cafe Sulvium, Barista's, 1020, Rowayton Seafood, Coalhouse, Nicholas Roberts Bistro.... just to name a few...please..please...please.

Colony Pizza ... or travel up I-95 to Frank Pepe's Pizzeria in Fairfiel

January 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKara

Definitely should check out Colony and the El Charrito truck or the new take out place.

January 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commentermattpergo

I vote for Pellicci's myself. I think he'd get off on the timeless nature off the place and it beats the heck out of those greasy, overpriced pizzas.

January 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commenternancee

Colony Grill for pizza or Lakeside Diner for pancakes. Sorry, I know you asked for 1, but they are both outstanding!

January 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commenteraditi

Lots of Pork options over at Valencia Luncheria in Norwalk
