Cucina modo mio on bridge st in westport is missing from this list. GREAT breakfast and affordable too, with a nice view of the saugatuck river. Brioche toast and eggs for $4!
My husband and I are fans of Sono Baking Company products, but were saddened by our experience when we decided to go there for brunch yesterday.
Having never eaten brunch there, I didn't know that you order first and seat yourself. When I asked the woman behind the counter if we could seat ourselves, her response was curt and she never lifted her head to tell me to order first and find a place.
I think I'd be more understanding if the place was crowded, but only two other couples were there and they were eating breakfast.
For $26 we ordered 2 french toast meals, 2 side orders of bacon and 1 diet coke. A $3 side of bacon consisted of 3 slices.
We sat down and were served by the same woman we spoke to when we came in. We each got 2 slices of french toast, and although good, we didn't think $26 worth.
My husband finished first and while I was half-way through my meal, the lady came, asked hubby if done and took his place. I have to admit I have a pet peeve of waitstaff clearing a table while another person is eating. It's obnoxious.
I finished my toast, but didn't take to the side of sauteed fruit so I gave to my husband. He was eating it and put down his fork for but a minute when the lady came back to the table and took his plate. She didn't ask this time and he wasn't finished.
I'd go back to buy their bread or sweets, but never go there for their brunch. The combination of the $1/slice bacon and rude blonde haired lady that served was more than enough for both us to agree, without hesitation, this is a place we'd never visit for brunch or recommend.
