Kids Reviews: The Lumberyard

CTbites Team

Carly is a 10 year old from Redding, CT with a passion for eating & writing.  She has joined the team as our youngest reviewer and she hopes she will inspire kids to be a little more adventurous in their FC restaurant choices.  She has developed a restaurant rating scale of 1-5 pickles, 5 being the best. This is her first review.

The Lumberyard

Are you craving some juicy meat and some fun?  Drive down to The Lumberyard in Georgetown, CT.  The huge menu sounded delicious. I had to look it over twice. The kid’s menu was the usual cheeseburger, grilled cheese, hot dogs and chicken tenders, so I decided to choose something off their regular menu.  My mind stopped spinning and I settled on the cheese-steak sandwich. The juicy meat chunks were cooked medium.  (The waiter didn’t ask how I wanted it cooked).  The chef did not put cheese sauce on the cheese-steak.  Instead they melted the cheese, which was a mix of mild cheddar, sharp cheddar and mozzarella.  I think the cheese sauce would have been a better taste and texture.  There was a huge mound of fries on my plate and the waitress said “We don’t do small very well.”  There were lots of onion...another burst of flavor.  I ordered my cheese-steak without the mushrooms and peppers, because I personally don’t like that.  My meal was well priced at $10.95 I took half of the sandwich home because it was so big.  The Lumberyard is a great family restaurant.   There are board games like Twister, Chutes and Ladders and even Scrabble for the kids to play at their tables.

I give The Lumberyard 4 pickles.
