Sweet Stuff: Halloween Candy Bark

My girlfriend and I were thumbing through our monthly cooking mags and we both noticed the cover picture of a very decadent looking Halloween themed candy bark.  I thought, “ this looks like fun, but I can do better than that!”  So off I went to our local grocery store that is stocked with bins of interesting looking sweets and nuts.  10 mini bags later, here’s what I came up with!  Alas, it's not healthy, but Halloween only comes once a year, and it's a great activity for a kids Halloween party.  The making is (almost) the best part of this recipe!

Halloween Candy Bark for Kids

2 bars each- dark, milk and white chocolate

assorted candies- m&m’s, reeses’s pieces, chocolate covered cherries, malt balls, chocolate covered cashews, gummy worms (you get the picture) assorted nuts- toasted almonds, peanuts, pecans, caramel corn…

Melt each type of chocolate in separate pots, preferably in double boilers or in bowls over pots with water.

Line 3 cookie sheets with aluminum foil and spray generously with cooking spray.  When the chocolate has melted, pour ¾ of each type into each cookie sheet and add candies.  Dip a fork into a different type of chocolate and drizzle over assorted candy bars.  Let dry at least 3 hours or until chocolate has set.  When bars have set, lift aluminum foil out of pan and break bars into pieces.
