I think coalhouse pizza in stamford has the worst pizza and the worst service in stamford will never go again
Colony is terrible
As a chain goes, planet pizza is not bad
Frank Peppe!s clam pie is awesome but a new favorite is Tarry Lodge in Portchester.
When I'm in the mood for "bar pizza" and a draft beer, it's always the hot oil pie at Colony. But I don't find myself in that mood frequently these days.
If any of my fellow Stamfordites actually think that Coalhouse and Remo's pass for good pizza, may I make a suggestion: head down to Bank Street across from the backside of Old City Hall and get any of the amazing pies on the menu at Tappo. Wow. I prefer the broccoli rabe and garlic white pizza or a margherita. And their homemade pastas are otherworldly.
If I'm in the mood for a little road trip from the 06902, Pizzeria Lauretano in Bethel never lets me down. Man, those guys know how to make pizza and worth the backroads schlep from SW FFld County.
I used to think I just didn't really like pizza until I tried the pizza at Villa Italia in Stamford. I LOVE their pizza! The dough is delicious-- thin and crispy, but not too thin or too crispy. The marguerita pizza is the best I've had and when I'm in the mood for a less traditional pizza I go for the buffalo chicken pizza. I brought one to a Superbowl party and it was gone before the chicken wings that someone else brought. I should have brought three pies!
