Grano Arso Restaurant will have a wine dinner with Eric Railsback from Lieu Dit Winery on February 12. Chef Joel Gargano has created a four course family style meal to complement the wines.  It costs $99 per person and tickets are available online. 

Peaches Southern Pub & Juke Joint is celebrating Fat Tuesday on February 13.  The Mardis Gras festivities include live music from the New Orleans Beatniks from 6-10pm.

Brewport in Bridgeport now offers gluten-free pizza crust!

The Spread’s new Greenwich location is now open Monday-Friday for lunch.

Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes in Watertown will have a “You’re The Mac to My Cheese Class” on February 13.  Chef Jason McKenzie will show you how to make cheesecake, a mini heart cake, and “BoHo Mac and Cheese.”  The class costs $65 per couple and includes two drinks. 

Yoga meets beer at Stony Creek Brewery in Branford.  Attend “Namaste and Drink a Beer” from 6:30-8:30pm on Tuesday February 13.  Enjoy an hour of candlelit instruction followed by a beer. 

Valentine’s Day is Wednesday February 14, and Connecticut restaurants are offering an assortment of romantic dining options, from prix fixe menus to creative a la carte options to wine specials.  Here are just a few highlights:

  • Treat your significant other to a delicious, seasonal menu specially prepared by Chef François Kwaku-Dongo at the Roger Sherman Inn.  The multi-course dinner is $95 per person exclusive of tax and gratuity. Choose from 5:30-6pm or 8:30-9pm.
  • Visit Union League Café for their 3 course Valentine's Day menu for $79 per person.
  • Instead of going out to dinner, invite a loved one to a fun hands-on cooking class where you will work with a chef to create a fabulous surf and turf dinner. It takes place at the Silo at Hunt Hill Farm from 6-9pm and costs $110.

HAN Restaurant in Hartford and SHU Restaurants in West Hartford and Fairfield invite you to celebrate the Chinese New Year with them on February 15 and 16.  There will be a Traditional Szechuan Kongfu Tea Performance and a Szechuan Opera Face Mask-Changing Performance.   Check out the festivities at SHU Fairfield on Thursda ebruary 15 at pm, SHU West Hartford on Friday, February 16 at 7pm, and HAN Restaurant in Hartford on Friday eb 16 at 8pm.

Hartford Baking Company will celebrate love and chocolate during the month of February with a different hot chocolate blend each week.  During the week of February 12, try their Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate.

On Thursday February 15, take a cooking class inspired by the French Bistro at Fig Cooking School in Milford.  The menu includes Steak au Poivre with Cognac Crème, Roasted Tomatoes with Stilton, Haricots Verts with Caramelized Shallots, and Pears with Port Wine Cider Glaze and Vanilla Ice Cream.  It starts at 6:30pm and tickets are available online.

On Saturday February 17, join Wave Hill Breads for “Beauty and the Baguette,” a post Valentine’s Day class for $55 per person.  Learn how to work with the dough, shape, and score it.

East Haddam is celebrating the 7th year of its Farmers Market with a Contra Dance & Dinner On February 17.  Dinner will be catered by Town Tavern and Billy Fischer will teach guests all about the Contra dance.  Tickets start at $25 (kids 12 and under are free) and are available online.

The Beer Collective hosts a NEBCO Beer Brunch on Sunday February 18.  5 beers will be paired with 4 courses starting at 11am.  Tickets are $50. 

In past weekly nibbles, you may have noticed announcements for 86'D A Culinary Collision.  The series began with 16 area chefs and culminated in two top chefs battling it out in front of a live audience filled with other chefs, industry professionals, food writers, critics, and the general public.  Today, 86’D is pleased to announce a check donation in the amount of $10,000 to End Hunger Connecticut.  The goal of “86D” was always to bring the community and restaurant industry together, while raising funds to help eliminate hunger.

Center Street Public House in Darien is not closing its doors after all!  They are retracting their announcement that they are shuttering their doors, and already promising outrageous festivities for St. Patty’s.

Stony Creek Brewery has announced that they plan to build a fully operational brewpub inside Foxwoods Resort Casino.  Stay tuned for more updates!

The Tasty Yolk debuted its February Special.  The “Berry Tasty” is made up of two bacon filled buttermilk pancakes topped with wild berry maple syrup and a citrus mascarpone.
