Nibble: CT Food Events For Week of March 5-12

Wilton Restaurant week kicked off March 5 and lasts through March 12.  Restaurants like Cactus Rose, Little Pub, and Washington Prime are offering prix fixe menus and other specials. 

Pacific Cycling & Triathlon in Stamford has opened a coffee shop in their bike store.  The serve “Bullet Proof Coffee,” which consists of grass fed Butter, mct oil, and fresh coffee.  The blend is known for its health benefits.  Accompany the java with baked goods from Wave Hill Breads or food brought in from NYC bakeries. 

On Wednesday March 8, Center Street Public House in Darien presents a Jameson Irish Whiskey dinner.  Guests can feast on a four course dinner with Jameson pairings, win prizes, and get St. Patrick’s Day swag.  Tickets are $45. 

It’s all about Heart and “Soil” in Bloomfield, CT from March 6-8.  Harrington’s Organic Pro Series presents Soil Health Workshops so that farmers can learn to evaluate health and quality of soil, produce high quality compost, improve soil fertility, manage produce quality, and implement organic land care practices. 

Ambler Farm in Wilton hosts an Apprentice Open Houses on Saturday March 11.  Kids in grades 5-11 can stop by the farm starting at 3pm.  That same day from 1-2pm, Ambler Farm will also have a Maple Syrup Open House.  Kids and families will have an opportunity to tap a tree, take the maple syrup taste test, learn about methods of making syrup and, taste Ambler Farm’s very own maple syrup over vanilla ice cream.

Stony Creek Brewery celebrates its two year anniversary on Saturday March 11.  They will release their Sour Silhouette, a sour stout aged on red wine oak, at noon.  There will also be 2 cask conditioned beers, live music!, and food trucks. 

On Saturday March 11, Wave Hill Breads will hold a Kids Cooking Class in conjunction with Wilton Continuing Education.  The St. Patrick’s themed class takes place from 3:30-5:30pm. 

Harbor Point’s 5th Annual Shamrock Stroll 5K Walk/Run will take place on Saturday March 11.  Meet in front of Stamford’s Bareburger location and hit the ground running (or walking!) at 7am.  The event is free. 

Norwalk’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is on March 11, and O’Neill’s is getting into the spirit.  After the parade, “St Baldricks Day” starts at 3pm followed by live music at 4pm.  Sunday March 12 is St Patrick's Family Day with Irish dancers and bag pipes. 

Aux Delices is offering a St. Patrick’s Day inspired kids cooking class on Sunday March 12.  The class will cover Fish and Chips, Irish Soda Bread, Roasted Root Veggies with Crispy Bacon, and Shamrock Cupcakes.  It costs $65 per child and runs from 4-6pm.  The class is for children ages 8-13. 

CT NOFA’s Annual Winter Conference takes place March 11 and March 12.  Farmers, landscapers, foodies, gardeners, and community leaders convene come together to collaborate and network.  It takes place at Western CT State University in Danbury, CT. 

The Westport Farmers Market presents Farm To Food Truck on Saturday March 11 from 10am-2pm.

Greater Orange restaurant week runs until March 12.  There’s still time to try prix fixe menus and specials!
