Nibble: CT Food Events For Week of February 19-26

On Tuesday February 21, CT baristas and coffee enthusiasts will gather at Newtown’s Café Xpresso for a Latte Art and Espresso Drink Throwdown.  Representatives from NEAT, The Granola Bar, Source Coffee, New Morning Market, Dolce Café, N2 Coffee, and more will present their creations to local coffee roasters, the media, and food industry professionals.  The general public is invited to witness the competition… and enjoy samples from Café Xpresso’s from-scratch menu. 

Celebrate Johnny Cash’s birthday at Walrus + Carpenter in Bridgeport.  On Thursday February 23, they invite you to their fourth annual bash starting at 7:30pm.

Fairfield Greenwich Cheese Company hosts Fondue Pop Up Dinners this week.  Visit the Fairfield location on February 22 from 7-9:30pm and the Greenwich location on February 23 from 7-9:30pm. 

Cotto Wine Bar in Stamford has a new team!  Chef Rolando Guardado, formerly of Fairfield County’s Z Hospitality Group, has stepped into the kitchen.  They also welcomed Sommelier Ian Toogood, who formerly worked at Le Fat Poodle in Greenwich, and bartender Eric Bufo, formerly of Walrus + Carpenter.

Stamford Restaurant Week continues through March 2.  Over 20 popular restaurants, including EOS, Kashi sushi, and The Capital Grille, are offering prix fixe menus in different price tiers.   

Danbury Restaurant Week runs from February 20-27.  Diners can take advantage of special offers from restaurants like Mykonos, Tivoli, and Square One. 

Registration for the 2017 Bishops Orchards CSA Season is open!  Choose from flower shares, egg shares, cheese shares, and more.  

Greater Orange Restaurant Week begins Sunday February 26.  Participating restaurants located in Orange, Milford, West Haven, and Woodbridge will be offering a variety of prix fixe dinner and/or lunch options. 

From February 20-27, participate in Ridgefield Restaurant Week.  Restaurants like Little Pub and Terra Sole have prix fixe lunch and dinner options. 

Taste of Hartford Restaurant Week returns on February 20 and runs through March 5.  Participating restaurants throughout Hartford will offer special multi-course, price-fixed menus.   

Wednesday February 22 is belly dancing night at The Fez in Stamford starting at 8pm.

The Middlesex Malters Home Brew Club will meet February 24 at 7pm at Paul Mc’s in Meriden.  Homebrewers of all skill levels are invited to meet and share their brews.  This meeting’s theme is stouts and porters. 

The Stamford Museum & Nature Center hosts a Winter Farm to Table Supper on Saturday February 25.  The evening will feature the cuisine of Executive Chef Carlos Baez of The Spread in South Norwalk and raise funds for the Nature Center.  Single tickets are $125 per person.  www.stamfordmuseum.org/farmtotable 

On Sunday February 26, children ages 8-13 can learn all about making cakes with Aux Delices cooking school.  It runs from 4-6pm and costs $65 per child.
