“One Night Only,” an event to benefit Community Plates, will take place at The Spread on Monday April 4.  Chef Carlos Baez will make his signature Chicken Mole that he presented on the Food Network’s Beat Bobby Flay.  In addition, Ken Tuccio will do an on location recording of his Welcome to Connecticut Podcast.  Reserve your table online.

Learn all about “Mastering Macaroons” with the Chefs Emporium on Sunday April 10.  From 12-2:30pm, participate in a hands on cooking class all about French macaroons.  You’ll create Lemon Macarons with Lemon Buttercream, Chocolate Macarons with Raspberry Buttercream, and Mint Macarons with Chocolate Ganache.  It is $50 per person.  Feel free to BYOB!  

On Wednesday April 6, Harry’s Wine & Liquor Market invites you to learn all about Scotch from The Islands.  The class will cover smaller distilleries from lesser known isles, like Arran and Skye, that are heavily affected by their oceanic environments.  It costs $35 and runs from 7-9pm. 

The Westport Country Playhouse will host a “2016 Season Kick-off Block Party” on Saturday, April 9 from 4-7pm.  Guests will get to experience the Playhouse’s “backstage experience” while enjoying food trucks, activities, prizes, and special ticket offers.  Food trucks will include Bodega, The Bounty Truck, LobsterCRAFT, and Skinny Pines Pizza. Purchase your tickets now for the Ferguson Library’s 6th Annual A Novel Affair fundraiser.  It will take place on Thursday April 14 from 5:30-8:30pm.  The event will feature small plates from popular area restaurants and caterers, such as Del Frisco’s Grille, DiMare Pastry Company, napa & co, and Tawa.  here will also be craft beer tastings courtesy of Charter Oak Brewing Company and Half Full Brewery.  Proceeds go to help the library.  Tickets $125. These Guys Brewing Company, located in Norwich, invites you to a Ballast Point Beer Brunch on Sunday April 10 from 11am-1pm.  The three course meal includes dishes like “Ricotta Pancakes with Blackberry Preserves and Million Dollar Bacon” paired with popular brews.  There will even be Bloody Marys made with Ballast Point’s own Bloody Mary Mix.  It costs $40 per person.

Stratford Restaurant Week returns Sunday April 3.  Over 20 restaurants, such as Outriggers, Sitting Duck Tavern, and Riverview Bistro are presenting prix fixe menus or specials. 

Savor: A Celebration of Wine, Food, and Spirits is finally here!  It starts with a Pappy Van Winkle bourbon tasting on Thursday April 7.  Then, enjoy the grand tastings on Friday April 8 and Saturday April 9.  The weekend concludes with a celebrity chef’s gala on Saturday night.  Proceeds go toward the Robert Irvine Foundation, which helps military families.  Buy tickets to one or all of these events here:

Basso Café in Norwalk invites you to “A Celebration of Spring” on Thursday April 14 at 6:30pm.  The wine dinner includes five courses paired with five wines.  Martin Warner of Worldwide Wines will lead you through the pairings.  It costs $78 per person and reservations are required.  Be sure to join Basso Café on Wednesdays for no corkage fees on wine as well.
