LIVE-EAT-LOVE: Celebrate LOVE in your home with all the right ingredients…D2 Style

D2 Interieurs

Everyone loves to celebrate love – on any day – D2 Interieurs feels that your surroundings should incorporate the following to stimulate the senses:

SMELL:   Smell effects the areas of your brain that projects feelings and perceptions. Scent is so  important, it makes the first impression and the right smell could make you fall in love all over again. Keep the flower arrangements modern, simple and chic.  When choosing the right candle, we like to go for the subtle smell of spice and woody smells found in amber, cinnamon, sugar and nutmeg.

TOUCH:  Mixing materials and textures create different moods and emotions. Set the table with textures and subtle colors with new placemats and linen napkins.  We suggest a textured linen napkin, it offers a rich softness and relaxed beauty. A sheepskin rug adds a touch of luxury, warmth and texture.  We love alpaca throws because they are ultra-soft and sumptuous and can be used to curl up with your love on the sofa or placed in front of a roaring fire while you eat a picnic dinner…

HEAR: Make a playlist of the music that brings back a sense of nostalgia and love. Music reaches into the mind to remember the thrilling, romantic times when you first heard those songs.  Play the music from the time you first met, your first date, your first kiss…or your wedding song.  If that isn’t your thing, play your favorite Pandora station; our favorite Pandora stations to set the mood are: Chill Out Radio, Chillwave Radio, and Buddha-Bar Radio.

SEE: Visual elements create a romantic environment. Set a gorgeous table with beautiful dishes, wine glasses and luxurious linens.  The most important detail is the lighting. Make sure that your recessed lights and chandeliers are all on dimmers, and nothing says romance more than candles flickering in the room. Place the candles at varying heights.  Another romantic idea is to set up a picnic dinner in front of a roaring fire.  Get a fabulous throw to place on the floor and cozy up.  Also, make sure to pamper yourself prior to the dinner, go get your hair done and a mani/pedi. When you look good, you feel good!

LOVE: Feel the LOVE by being together

EAT:  Prepare a delicious meal together, or if cooking isn’t your thing, there is nothing wrong with ordering in from your favorite restaurant.  If you are not in the mood for a big meal, lay out a fabulous cheese, fruit and charcuterie platter and to set up for your picnic in front of the fireplace.  Also, be sure to pick up all your favorite wine and cocktails.  Valentine’s Day would not be the same with a decadent dessert.  Find some gourmet chocolates or fruit dipped in chocolate.
