Despite the torrential rains they came – They came in droves to the first inaugural Taste of Fairfield which was held at The Delamar Hotel in Southport. Guests – young and old alike – enjoyed delicious fare, beautiful cocktails and artisanal wines from over two dozen popular restaurants and specialty markets from the Fairfield County area.

Artisan Executive Chef and Partner Frederic Kieffer prepared an outstanding Braised Vermont Goat over Anson Mills Grits with shaved Vermont Goat cheese.

Under an enormous protective tent attendees grazed on delicious offerings from ramen to pho to hearty chili, tacos, lobster ravioli to Bay Scallops, hearty soups, brick oven pizzas and heavenly decadent sweet bites offered up by such favorites as Little Pub, Sweet & Simple, Taco Loco, BRICK + WOOD, Donut Crazy, The Chelsea, Red Bee Honey, Garelick & Herbs, Nom-eez, J House Greenwich, SoNo Baking Company & Café, Freshii Fairfield, The Whelk, Fairfield Cheese Company, Asylum Distillery, Riverside Baking Company, Little Goose Cafe, Mcha Noodle Bar, Toto' Restaurant and Sport Hill Farm. They ate under the tent. They drank. They ate and drank some more. VIP attendees enjoyed a special lounge access with football and foodservice – food and cocktails delivered with a smile.

Despite the at times torrential downpours adults danced to the popular bands Otis and the Hurricanes and the Mill River Band while the littlest ones splashed in the puddles.  But the rain didn’t wash out this parade, eventually the skies did clear and people began to emerge from beneath the tent and enjoy the beautiful pack patio area.

The event was sponsored by Fairfield Magazine and TownVibe and proceeds went to benefit Operation Hope.
