Darien’s Restaurant Week returns from February 2 through February 6.  Selected restaurants will offer a multi-course meal for a special set price.  Lunch is priced at $12.14 or $18.14 while dinner is $20.14 or $30.14 depending on where you dine (plus tax and gratuity).  Try: Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, Bodega Taco Bar, Cesco’s Trattoria, Chuck’s Steakhouse, Coromandel, Darien Social, Estia’s American, Jimmy’s Southside Tavern, Meatball & Company, Rory’s Restaurant, Scena Wine Bar, Tengda, The Goose, and The Melting Pot, and more.  

Tuesday February 4, the Fairfield Cheese Company will hold a fondue class.  Experiment with several different fondue recipes in all their warm and creamy glory. There will be lots of delicious dipping accompaniments and a couple of wine selections to add to the fabulous fondue fun. $45. Info here.

It’s a Sierra Nevada tap takeover at Cask Republic Stamford on February 5th at 7pm.  Guests can taste Bigfoot Barleywine, Torpedo, and Ruthless Rye IPA in the back room. 

Knipschildt Chocolatier (CT Magazine's Best of CT for chocolate) and Wine Institute of New England (CT Magazine's Best of CT for wine appreciation) join forces on February 5th from 7:00-9:00 pm.  The evening begins with chocolate-infused hors d'oeuvres and sparkling wine, followed by a guided pairing of wine and artisan chocolate from CT. This event will be held at Chocopologie Cafe, 12 S. Main Street, Norwalk, CT. $59/person Limited to 36 people. Advanced registration required.

Thursday February 6th from 7pm-9pm, join Harry’s Wine in Fairfield for “Wines of France.” Considered by many to be the cradle of European wine heritage, France has a wine to please every palate.  Each week, these wines will be tasted alongside a couple of perfectly paired French cheeses. Keep your Riedel wine glass at the end of class. $60 plus $20 materials fee. 

February 6 from 6-9, a “Chocolate, Dessert, & Wine Lover’s Evening” will come to the Stamford Marriott.  Over 70 vendors, restaurants, vineyards, sweets shops, chocolatiers, coffee shops, cheese shops, distilleries, and bakeries will participate in this event, which benefits The Shelter for the Homeless.  There are door prizes as well.  $50 in advance, $60 after Feb 3.  Register at shelterforhomeless.org.

February 7 from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm is “Open House” at Half Full Brewery in Stamford.  Every other Friday, $15 gets you in the door.  The taps are open and you can try your hand at bags, life-size jenga, draw on a chalkboard wall, or just enjoy some great conversation over great beers.

The 2014 Big Brew New York Festival goes down 2/8 from 4-8:30 at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.   There will be over 300 brews and special beers available to VIPs.  It will also include local restaurants, brewing experts, a special beer and chocolate tasting demo, and cookbook signings.  General admission $50.  http://bigbrewny.com/ 

Feb 9th LUXE Wine Bar & Craft Cocktails in Westport will partner with Fritz Knipschildt of Chocopologie for a gourmet tasting experience. Knipschildt Signature Chocolates will be paired with the customer’s choice of LUXE selected fine wines or specially selected craft cocktails. Friday January 31-Sunday February 2Turnpike Wine & Spirits in Fairfield will hold its Grand Reopening Extravaganza.  There will be beer, spirit & wine tastings from 4-8 Friday, 12-8 Saturday, and 12-5 Saturday.  As a special treat, guests can try the special Bourbon County Stout beginning at 3:12pm on Saturday.  Attendees can also try the coveted Frank Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon which was recently featured in Food & Wine Magazine.
