Award winning local chef and long time CTbites contributor, Nicole Straight, has just published her second cookbook, "More Time to Eat! Delicious recipes from a busy kitchen," which aims to teach families how to streamline time spent in the kitchen, as well as make delicious meals in 15 minutes.
The new cookbook is an evolution of Straight’s lengthy experience as a cooking instructor who has taught thousands of people how to bring their families back to the table and simplify the nightly 6 o'clock dinner time dilemma.
Her new book comprises a plethora of easy recipes, such as BLT Tortellini, Provencal Braised Chicken Thighs, Asian Quinoa Salad and Dark Chocolate Cherry Cookies. She teaches you how to simplify meal preparation while minimizing time spent in the kitchen for both family meals and entertaining friends.
Recipes are marked in such a way that gluten-free, dairy-free and nut-free recipes are easily identifiable for people with food allergies. The book also includes a comprehensive pantry list, easy ways to adjust recipes to suit different tastes, and organizational tips for dinner parties.
More Time to Eat! is designed with portability in mind and is small enough to fit in one’s purse so a pantry staple list is always at hand for trips to the market.
Straight, founder of the Time to Eat! cooking school, teaches 90-minute cooking classes at the Christopher Peacock Cabinetry Showroom in Greenwich, as well as in-home cooking classes. “I created these classes because people are always strapped for time. It’s easy to look at a cookbook, but finding time and keeping things quick, healthy and delicious is a challenge,” says Straight.
Straight has won Best Cooking Classes by the Best of the Gold Coast and is a regular contributor to local and national media, including Bravo TV and Channel 8 WTNH, where she instructs viewers in simple meal preparation.
The book is available at amazon.com and lulu.com and is priced at $25.
